MediRund is the database for the central registration of antibiotics in the cattle sector in the Netherlands. From 1 January 2015, new rules apply to the registration of antibiotics: within 14 days after delivery of an antibiotic, data about it must be recorded in MediRund (http://medirund.nl). This registration can be done automatically from Fuga.

First of all, you activate the system for your Fuga by ticking 'MediRund' under Configuration => Practice preferences => Netherlands. To further activate the integration, you request a login from MediRund. You can enter the username, which begins with 'UDN', and the password in Fuga via Configuration => My preferences => General => MediRund. Once that is set up, you will see a number of extra fields in the client record, the animal record and the product record.

In addition, a few more changes are required, namely:

  • Under the client record for Dutch clients you will be able to enter the UBN number. You must enter this number without the 'UBN' prefix.
  • Under the animal record you can tick whether the animal or animal group is used in milk production, and you can indicate the age group. This data is required for MediRund. You have the choice between the following age groups: 0 - 56 days, 56 days - 1 year, 1 - 2 years, 2 years and older.
  • Under the product record of each product to be registered, you must enter the product's EAN number. You can find a list of products and EAN numbers at http://adapter.vetmessage.nl/brwijs/.

So how does it work?

Fuga will now keep a list of medicines supplied to clients with a UBN number and Dutch address, where the product has an EAN number and where the animal has a valid age group set. You can request this list with the report To be submitted to MediRund. From this list you can register the supplied products with MediRund individually or in batch.

Sending a large batch can take a while, because Fuga sends each line to MediRund separately. While it is sending, Fuga shows a moving progress indicator with the message "Sending may take a while; do not close this window and do not press send again." Wait until the sending has finished, and do not open the list again in another window or tab in the meantime. That way you avoid lines being registered twice in MediRund.

The sending to MediRund is done in the name of the collaborator of the consultation/sale. If necessary, you can still change the collaborator on the sale or consultation record. In the case of a sale to a herd with a herd veterinarian, the herd veterinarian is filled in as the collaborator by default.

If you do not want to report a product to MediRund, you can remove it from the list using the trash bin. This line is then no longer sent to MediRund.

If the sending did not succeed, you can see per line in the column "Feedback on this antibiotic registration" what the problem was.

Via the report Submitted to MediRund you can also request a list of supplied products you have already registered with MediRund.
