By setting a minimum stock, Fuga detects when a product needs to be reordered. You still have the final say. The maximum stock is used to determine how much is ordered by default, which can still be adjusted when placing the order itself. Minimum and maximum stock are entered in outgoing units; ordering is done in incoming units.

Example: suppose a product arrives in boxes of 6 vials — the incoming unit is 1 box and the outgoing unit is 1 vial. You set the minimum stock to 9 vials and the maximum to 24 vials. When the stock drops to 8 vials, an order will automatically be suggested for 16 units, rounded up to 3 boxes (incoming unit). You approve the suggestion and the order is placed with the supplier.

Note:

Fuga calculates the quantities to order. For Alcyon and Medini, backorders on their platforms are also subtracted.

So if you need to reorder 3 vials to maintain stock, and you already have 1 vial on backorder, only 2 vials will be suggested. This prevents products from being endlessly reordered in the period between ordering and delivery.

To avoid accidentally setting a maximum stock lower than the minimum, you can activate the option Check maximum stock value via Settings => Practice preferences => Stock. Products with an invalid maximum value will then be marked with an asterisk (*) in the ordering module.
